Andrea Mendicutti-Zuehl

Andrea started playing club volleyball at the age of nine and continued into her high school years where she played as the libero for Clark High School in 2008 and 2009. After High School she decided not to play in college as she wanted to concentrate on her studies but that didn't last long as she began to play for her Alma Mater at the University of Texas at San Antonio until 2014. In 2015, Andrea graduated with a Bachelor's degree in liberal arts with a focus on psychology. Now every day that degree is put to use. Her coaching philosophy is not only to help her players in the program achieve the highest level in their volleyball career, but also to help each and every one of her players to succeed in life. Her motivation is to help them build good character, strength, and quality leadership skills so they can be as successful as they can be in all aspects of life.

    Justin Zuehl

Justin graduated with a business management degree and a minor in international business from University of Texas at San Antonio in 2014. While attending UTSA, he was  a member of the men's club volleyball team, which further built his true love and dedication for the sport. During his time at UTSA he met his future wife Andrea, and of course he met her on the volleyball court! Over 10 years later Justin and Andrea are still coaching together side by side. Justin began his official coaching career in 2013, along side Andrea, and in 2017 they decided to embark on their own journey in the wonderful city of San Antonio with the start of Texas Boom Club Volleyball. Justin is not only passionate for the development of the girls he coaches on the court, but off the court as well. These kiddos are not only athletes to him, they are family too!

      Kimberly Derrick

Hi my name is Kimberly Derrick , and I am one of the coaches here at Texas Boom. Volleyball and athletics have been a huge part of my life ever since I can remember walking. I have always enjoyed the competitive nature of sports and working with teammates to bring together championships on and off the court.  This will be my second year coaching with Texas Boom. I have played volleyball for 10+ years for a variety of different teams - specializing with defensive players and setters!

I was born and raised in San Diego, California and graduated from Weber State University with my bachelors degree in communications. Here I was a collegiate athlete for woman’s track and field. I ran the 400 meter hurdles and triple jump. Following graduation and my track endeavors , I obtained my personal trainer certification. I primarily specialize with young athletes who are looking to improve their athleticism and perform at high levels.

I use my exercise science background and communication degree to create a unique dynamic for volleyball girls of all ages! I create an environment that allows them to build skills that will help them not only on the court , but off the court!

              Daniel Holguin

I grew up in Cibolo, Texas and attended Canyon High School in New Braunfels. After graduating, I went to UTSA for my undergrad, receiving my BA in Public Administration and Political Science.

I have coached both softball and volleyball for 7 years, and have been playing both for over 10 years. In my professional career, I am an educator teaching personal finance to all age groups, ranging from grade school to adults, including seniors.

I always strive to live and coach with a "happy body, healthy mind" mindset, teaching athletes the value in caring for their body, mental health, and others on and off the court.

I believe playing a sport relies on more than just pure athleticism. It is learning how to be uncomfortable in order to grow, understanding your adversity in order to succeed, and becoming the best version of yourself.

                Hazel Jackman

I grew up in Houston, Texas, graduating from Baytown Sterling High School. Growing up I played club and school volleyball.

After high school I went on to get my degree at UTSA and graduated with my Bachelors in Psycology and Sociology, while playing Club Volleyball there on my free time!

For my professional career I'm a Personal Trainer and Health coach, with the goal of helping women feel and look their best while enjoying their journey in the process!

I initially started with Texas Boom as their pre-season Strength and Conditioning coach, then proceeded to work with the girls as an assistant coach for the last 2 years. My philosophy is to not only work on their skills on the court, but also having a strong mindset through their everyday lives!

                  Angie Hernandez

I was born and raised in McAllen, TX; "seasoned" in El Paso, TX and am now blossoming in San Antonio since 2020.

It wasn't until the age of 9 where I began my path for the love of volleyball. I began training as a setter that continued all the way through 8th grade at Robert E. Clark Middle School.

At Americas High School I became more versatile as an athlete and was placed where I was needed(Outside, right side, or defense). Unfortunately, the "Libero" wasn't established until after I'd graduated. However, that didn't stop me from ranking the 16th best Defensive Specialist within our District.

Senior year I decided to not play club season and prepared to take summer courses at EPCC and UTEP.

It was then that I was given the opportunity to begin my coaching career and now have 16+ years experience under my belt(grades 5th-11th) in both club and private schools combined.

I strive to teach my athletes to keep an open mind and stray from the "one position" mindset. I coach my players to be just as versatile and understand that it's not "I can't" but "I don't know how". The love and passion for the sport is infinite and I am blessed to be a part of TX Boom and continue to give back to the future stars of volleyball.
